So, who makes ranges in 40 mm for AWI primarily but other ranges that are close enough to tap into. I'm already aware of MSC and the fine proprietor Doug C. Who else is out there?

Also, what 'scale' is closest to 40 MM? Especially want sources for civilians, male and female and children, for the 18th century – and animals, wild and domestic.

Thanks.

(sorry for the triple post which resulted in the double delete)

Don't know about civilians, but Sash and saber have both SYW/F&IW and AWI

Front Rank does AWI. link

40mm would equate to 1/45th scale, so maybe look at 1/48th armor kit accessories and O/S Scale train accessories.

Gunfreak, thanks for the info, S&S FIW has a pack of 20 civilians. And Dye4minis, your information is useful, I can pull lots of animals from the world of O scale train figures – though do they scale well to the figures?

FusilierDan, I did know about Front Rank but appreciate the input.

So, can anyone say how well these three ranges, Front Rank, Sash and Saber, and the figures from Miniature Service Center scale up against each other?

Again, thanks for those who can provide useful information.

MSC are generally slightly larger than S&S,but some people do mix them.

I have all three ranges in my AWI collection. Front Rank and Trident are so close that you can mix them into the same units. S&S castings are a bit smaller but they also work well, but I do have them in their own units. We also have plans to add Civilians and animals to our AWI & FIW ranges including Indian civilians in camp.

Size and sculpting style are a little different, but don't forget the always useful ranges by Irregular:

Irregular are 42mm but are measured properly so will be the same size as 40mm 'foot to eye'.
