Hi all, I'm looking for 28mm Cop Cars, ideally Chicago PD or NYPD. I'm planning to use them for a SWAT team. I've got an armoured vehicle for it (a Gaz Tiger from Empress figures; link but I'd also like some squad cars for the perimeter teams and the like. I know that the best scale for vehicles with 28mm models is 1/43, but I simply can't find any suppliers in the UK who charge less than 40 quid, which is way too much seeing as I want a few of them :-( I can't even see anything on ebay. Does anyone know any decent suppliers? Cheers |

Don't know what shipping will be like, but Diecast Direct might be an option: link On page 4 and 5 of their Police section, there are some $7 USD-$11 items that might work. They have some bulk deals as well. Best of luck. |

You might try talking to butlers models, they might be able to 3d print something like that for you. I know that I can make a model like that on my 3d printers. Here is an example of a military vehicle that would work for SWAT that I could make. It is a MOWAG Eagle IV

I found several at CVS and Walgreens – same models that are listed on ebay there but cheaper |

I think 1/43rd is HUGELY too big to go with 28mm figures. I subscribe to 1/56th as just about perfect. |

I think you just need to refine your search a bit. Put "Crown Victoria Car Die cast" into the uk ebay site and you'll find a bunch of them for 15 pounds or less shipped. I found quite a few for 13 quid. Here's the search I did. auction For Chicago I recommend this Welly example. auction Welly decals arent' always quite as cleanly applied as some others but the cars are actually a smidge smaller so they look better in size. Also the arrangement of decals is quite accurate and the interior is just a bit better than average. Here's mine.
Here's the review (or Westwind and Tactial minis cops) that it came from link |

Have a look in the collectors magazines for a fair local to you, or Google toy collectors fairs. They take place all over the country and you can find all kinds of bargains. As said above 1:56 scale is closer to 28mm, but finding anything in that scale is almost impossible. |

Here is the Mowage Eagle IV I said I could print. I do not have any 28mm moderns so I used a 28mm ACW officer figure for size comparison.
I am the cavalry, charge! If anyone is interested I can do Bank Trucks and armored vans too. Pretty much anything that I can find a 3d video file of I can convert, pretty much any scale too. PM me if you want to know more. |

I think 1/43rd is HUGELY too big to go with 28mm figures. So you'd think, but a 1/56 scale mini with a 3mm thick base is 7" taller. So you end up with the roofline of the car looking far too low. Going with 1/43 scale cars gets the roofline in the correct spot for 1/56 minis on 3mm thick bases. |

I base on washers so my figures don't have a high profile…I usually try to find 1/50 scale but the best way for me is to carry a figure with me when I know I'm hunting for cars… |
