Let's take North Korea. The ruling party styles itself: Korean Workers' Party (KWP). Does anyone believe that its aims are the advancement of ordinary people? Not to mention the one party state is labelled "The Democratic People's Republic of Korea".

Hardly. I'm not parochial so I actually take an intelligent interest in the world at large.

You do understand a government in a democratic system *is* the people & thus spends tax dollars on them? Of course, realistically there is waste but I'd suggest your tax dollars ($$$$ as you quaintly put it) are being spent at least partly on infrastructure, health, education etc.
