Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi escaped from Mosul two months ago when the road to the west was briefly re-opened by an ISIS fighter counter attack, claims Fuad Hussein.

The chief of staff to Kurdish President Masoud Barzani, told the Independent that the self-declared Caliph used the fighters to clear a road leading out of the city…"

So how would you wargame it? ;)
Sincere question, though. Seems like carbombs have been pretty effective as frontline attacks, given that it is literally charging (often through the open) at an enemy in what probably only amounts to "light armor."

Naturally a company-sized attack in support should help, and I imagine couterattack was more about causing a small retreat and confusion to allow a sneak-out (rather than a breakout assault the whole way through), so perhaps you can just use the carbombs as diversions of anti-vehicle weapons in the area…
