@ Marc

I make you right on every point.

Another 500 Airfix arrived here just yesterday. Must have 2,000 now, all acquired in the last few months.

Of course when I'll paint them is another matter.

I never saw the PB Waterloo book but the Battle of Britain, D Day, Dinosaurs and Ancient Egypt were ace….

Hi

'OH man…'

Many thanks for the link to 'Patterson Blick Instant Picture Books' Marc – I had this as a child and have pondered about it a few times over the years.

Amazing what comes up on the Internet.

Sorry guys for that shot of nostalgia… grin

I had a lot of the PB books and that site is a great resource – of course, if the owners succeed in reissuing the. Then I am doomed…

And I realised that, once painted, no one actually notices on the table. So they fight and die like all my plastic toys. When I want total accuracy I have Franznap and the more modern plastics. But Airfix pass muster at three feet distance

All great reasons!
Add the fact that most of us on here speak English and Britain was one of the 3 major combatants.
If it had been fought in Yugoslavia or Italy, it would not have had the same effect.

Also, as an older guy, I am amazed at the number of posts here that mention the movie and the Airfix figures, which bought us all to wargaming, and started out love of Waterloo.

Digby Green25 May 2017 12:49 p.m. PST

Because no other British railway station or Abba song was named after any other Napoleonic Battles!

Err

Maida Vale?

Sorry, couldn't resist. But really, are there no others?
