That's a b#gger. Custom House DLR station is closed this year.

No Salute for me then.

Why don't you get off at Prince Regent instead? It's just the other end of the Excel centre.

I have some problems walking and Salute on its own is a real struggle even from Custom House. I am worried that the extra half mile or more to and from the previous stop (in total) will be too much. How far is it from PR ?

Badgers26 Mar 2017 8:52 a.m. PST

PR is literally the other end of the Excel centre, and Salute is in the middle, so there's no difference walking from either direction. What will stop me going is absolutely no interest in the participation games on offer.

There is a parallel bus route to the DLR line. The only issue will be if the footbridge over the line is closed as well.
I will check on Monday and post it here.

That would be useful, thanks.

IIRC Prince Regent was MORE convenient the last two years but don't tell anyone.

The bigger change is that car parking is now £20.00 GBP per day, not £10.00 GBP ….

Prince Regent goes directly into the building, it's probably shorter distance tube-show than Custom House was.

If the layout follows last year Prince Regent is definitely closer to the hall where the entrance queue was marshalled.

Statement from Salute Organisers…

"Many people may have seen that Custom House on the DLR is closed this year, and not allowing people to exit for the ExCel Exhibition Centre. There is no need to worry, the next station Prince Regent is open, and as Salute 2017 has moved right down to the east end of ExCel the show will be closer to this station.
So it will should be easier to get in to the show this year, less of a walk!!"

So the short version is… forget Custom House entirely, go straight to Prince Regent!
