It's a giant sloth: Dangerous if provoked, and especially if cornered, but generally too lazy to walk over and attack you, so just go around it!

The knight in the photograph is showing good technique by walking around the backside of the sloth, while it appears to be distracted by something, probably some fresh new spring foliage.
