Are you utterly ruthless in your aim to score a victory against your opponents?

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut21 Mar 2017 5:17 p.m. PST

I believe I was recently accused of "being greedy" about trying to win…

Chris Wimbrow21 Mar 2017 5:51 p.m. PST

I don't tell my opponent they were utterly stupid in their game play until I've won.

How far will I go?
I'll read the rules and game conditions.
I'll work out the math.
If necessary, I'll sometimes even practice.

'I'll read the rules'

Sorry… I don't understand…

zoneofcontrol22 Mar 2017 4:53 a.m. PST

The rulebook is a living and breathing document. It evolves and changes as does my situation on the game table at the time. If the author didn't want me to correct his errors, he wouldn't have sold it to me in the first place.

Ottoathome22 Mar 2017 7:33 a.m. PST

Couldn't care less. In fact I purposely craft my army so it will lose.

I don't game at a store or a club. I give games at my house. Therefore the gamers who come over are my guests and my friends.

What's the point of being ruthless with them?

Just remember guys …bottom line … It's about playing with toys guys … just toys … wink

I CHEAT all the time, but then again I'm a solo wargamer…so…Shrug

I really hate that it's very difficult to double cross myself though!

attilathepun4722 Mar 2017 10:58 a.m. PST

I will bear any burden, pay any price, so long as I crush you to dust!

Russ Lockwood22 Mar 2017 11:54 a.m. PST

All out group seeks to win, but there's a lot of "ooops" moments (which are popularly known as "senior moments") where we allow changes and/or rolls as long as it's not too far gone.

Buck21522 Mar 2017 1:29 p.m. PST

Nothing Pyrrhic for me- I want my troops to live to fight another day (and preferably win)…

Winston Smith22 Mar 2017 6:41 p.m. PST

As Gore Vidal said, "It is not enough to succeed. Others must fail."

Supercilius Maximus23 Mar 2017 3:26 a.m. PST

I believe he was talking about me, Winston. No matter how far I drive to get a game, I still lose – although it does make me feel part of the winning process when my 25-0 defeat (FoG tournaments) is to the guy who pipped the overall runner-up by just one point.

What else? Oh, yes – I blame the dice.

Volleyfire23 Mar 2017 5:38 a.m. PST

I'm prepared to go as far as the other side/end of the table basically.

Chris Wimbrow23 Mar 2017 7:08 a.m. PST

To paraphrase General Patton …

You don't win a war[game] by dying for your side, you win by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his side.

Based on my record, not far enough.
