I have some Baccus 6mm British Generals to paint up. On the Baccus site, they are painted with red saddlecloths trimmed gold, with a red roll behind the rider (might that be a cloak?) and red pistol holsters.

However, I have seen pictures with blue saddlecloths without any trim and a black sheepskin.

Also, in the field, would officers wear white breeches and boots? Perhaps a dark grey overall would be more appropriate?

Any help woukd be appreciated.

In the field, most staff officers including generals used simple horse furniture. A popular combination was a plain square blue saddle cloth and bearskin capped holsters. some preferred a blue pointed shabraque. Sometimes there was a gold edging but this was rare.

As to legwear they wore what they wanted just about. Grey leather-reinforced overalls were popular but some, like Wellington himself wore white breeches and Hessian boots. You will have to look up the individual general to have a chance of finding what they wore.
