Hi Guys,
We played our first Epic-size, Battle Cry board game scenario this past weekend. The new mat I made for this 3D-conversion is over 6 ft. in length, and I think helps ramp up the joy of playing this already fun, easy to play Commands & Colors game. The scenario was based on the battle of Antietam, and we used a dice-roll activation system (to enable each of the 6-players a chance to order their commands each turn), and also a chance for participants to earn Tactic cards (these cards being fan-created, and available online).
Here's a few photos from the action:

Below, Hooker's Corps has been attempting to make headway on the northern sector of the battle

Sumner's command in the center having a tough go of it

In the south, Burnside's bridge crossing will prove to be as bloody as ever

I'll be doing a few tweaks to the scenario, and running the game again in a few weeks. Hope you like what you've seen.

Looks nifty – JAS

Looks good, but something doesn't compute. 6' table? 13 hexes by 9? 10mm figures? Those hexes ought to be 5" side to side. 20mm figures, maybe?

Looks like a lot of fun

I was on the winning side, which shows that something must be wrong or my teammates really stepped up t fill the void. It was a great game in both look and play! I look forward to more!

Thanks for all your great comments guys!
And now to Robert P. – it's EPIC Battle Cry – that's on a 26 X 9 hex grid board. :))) (3" hexes, and Gordon & Hague 10mm minis)

looks like a lot of effort went into that game.

Looks great.
Where did you get the image/texture for the base hex mat from?
And what did you make the 3" terrain hexes out of?

FlyXwire22 Mar 2017 5:17 p.m. PST

Hi Coopman!
Hey, remember that Tank On Tank fields map I showed in that thread here:

TMP link

I textured out all the road/trails surrounding those fields, and eliminated the crop and plowed field sections to make a more generic-looking (but still color-varied) ground-scape.

The 3-inch 3D hexes are a combination of Litko plywood pieces, along with those cut from sheet styrene for the multi-hex-shaped sections, and the hills were hot-wire cut from home insulation foam. All were then covered with glued-on (w/spray adhesive) RR grass mat material (paper-backed sheeting that has static grass already attached to it. Railroad hobby companies like Noch, Busch, Heki all make these RR grass mats in various size rolls.

Hey, Ivan and Stew art – thanks also for your compliments!
