Has anyone tried a War of 1812 Americans vs Spanish?

The Spanish colonies in Florida supported the upper Creek Moscogee tribes in the civil war with the Lower creek tribes. The Americans entered the war on the side of the lower creek towns.

The American filibuster movement under the name Patriot War raided northern Florida from Georgia. Since the Spanish was supported by the British after 1807, this made the Spanish enemies of the Americans as well.
As part of the American involvement, Andrew Jackson invaded Florida and captured Pensacola. A very interesting small scale battle. He later sent the Blue expedition deeper into Florida to chase 'fleeing Red Sticks' refugees.

Hmm. I'd have said the Spanish-American War of 1812 was primarily fought in Texas, though the Florida stuff is also nice.

We included American activities in the decade in Texas as part of our Osprey style book on American Filibuster actions.
The unique thing about those was that the Americans acted as mercenaries or volunteers for one of the factions from Mexico.
