Finally after years of contemplating it, I went ahead and began to collect and paint a 28mm halfling army.

I had been reviewing a number of websites that carried halflings in this scale.

In the end Battleforge seemed to have one of the most diverse ranges and some of the best prices for unit quantities, etc.

Battleforge sells stock both from its own website as well as regularly listing many of its products on Ebay as Buy It Now new items.

I placed two orders, one from their own site and a second one from their Ebay stock.

Confirmation emails came quickly. Shipping notification came just as quickly. I placed the orders on March 3rd and my package was delivered on March 16th, that was from the U.K. to Connecticut, USA.

I need to mention some important details about the order.

The counts for the units were perfect. Even better, everything was packaged EXACTLY in the same way as they were sold on their site. In other words, the units of 20 archers and 20 swordsmen each had their own bags. The personalities all had their own individual bags. The supply wagon and horse w/crew had its own bag. The individual character models like the wizard and Mayor commander had their own bags.

Every miniature comes supplied with a square base for infantry or rectangular base for cavalry/wagons, etc. Even cooler was that all of the individual character miniatures were supplied with BOTH a square AND a round base in case you wanted to use the miniature in a game like Warhammer or in an RPG or fantasy skirmish game. They didn't ask which type of base you wanted or needed, they just sent both!

The invoice matched up to each product, with the nice touch of them printing out my own Ebay ordering page showing thumbnails of each item with a check mark next to it.

I LOVE their halfling sculpts! Ironically, the photos of the painted miniatures on their site really don't do the sculpts justice. They look smaller in the photos, closer to 25mm on the website. Also, the paintjobs hide and obscure some of the detail. I'm not saying that the paintjobs are bad, just that they don't do the sculpts full justice in my opinion.

But they are TRUE heroic 28mm, equal in scale to Games Workshop's halfling ranges from the 90s, including units like Lumpin Croop's Halflings.

Battleforge also consolidated shipping charges. They combined BOTH their direct website order and the Ebay order into one shipment, giving me a refunded shipping amount against the total of the order.

The entire order was 40 halflings on foot(2 units of 20 both with full command, 5 cavalry, several personalities including a Mayor(general), several heroes/commanders, a wizard, and a supply wagon with crew.

All told about 95 halfling miniatures for $150.00 USD

I highly recommend Battleforge for anyone considering collecting a fantasy halfling army in 28mm scale.
