No too long ago, somebody posted a list of what armor the Germans had available shortly after D-Day. Not the glamour of Panzer Lehr, but the ad-hoc units that were actually sitting around when news broke out that the Allies were on the beaches. It was a collection of PzII's, PzIII's, the rare IV' a lot of French surplus …

Does this sound familiar? Or does anyone have quick access to repeat themselves on this topic again? Thanks.

That just sounds like a listing from Zetterling of 21st Panzer Div and the independant panzer battalion in the Cherbourg Peninsular

Whole the Somuas were all theoretically still on 21st Panzer Divs strength, they had all been withdrawn by D-Day, so 21st Panzer had Panzer IVs, lots and lots and lots of them. (plus all the French conversions in 200th Stug Abt).

Martin is correct, the 21st had no Panther battalion, it had an extra MkIV battalion. They had lots of French conversion vehicles, Pak 40's and 105's on French tank chassis. Also converted half tracks, and one with a nebelwefer on the back.
