The present system of poll choices, as I understand it, is that a poll is proposed and anyone can nominate a choice to be included in the poll.

This system is leading to some frankly ludicrous poll choices and it seems to be getting worse. Two recent examples: the 'most evil person in military history' includes a load of politicians, and the one about stinker movies included more critically acclaimed and box office successful movies than actual stinkers!

So should all nominations that do not meet the parameters of the poll be left off the choices when the poll goes live? Most of us enjoy the joke suggestions in the poll thread, but do they really need to end up in the actual poll?

Just to be clear. I am talking about the voting choices in a poll, not the subject of the poll. By all means propose a poll asking 'what is your favourite tomato', but when someone nominates a lemon as one of the answers that should not make it through to the poll itself!

Face it--some polls are tomatoes:

And some are lemons:

If the polls had any influence on the world then I think they would be worth worrying about.

Other than those proposing new boards they have no effect.

Should Ice Cold in Alex be voted the worst war film ever I will still think it is a masterpiece of British Cinema.

They're just a bit of fun. I may have pointed out that some of the "stinker" films are actually deservedly respected classics, but it doesn't really matter.

IMHO.

Who will be the judge? If you leave out things that "do not fit the criteria", then you have to add things that never got nominated.

Sint ut sunt aut non sint.

But yes. They are most definitely NOT important. They are for fun.

By the way, Woodrow Wilson was certainly an evil racist politician but hardly a military leader. grin
Which is why I didn't vote for him. One does not have to vote for someone simply because they are listed in a poll.

In the order you asked:
No

Stop making sense!

Bashy: that photo will give me nightmares. I may have to propose a poll to repress it.

I already posted the solution here.

Let's not start that again!
