My brother has just retired from the military and his first retirement project is 10mm Zulu War. He will use Pendraken figures, but would like to add variety from other 10mm manufacturers. It's expensive and time consuming to test purchase small batches of samples with us being based in South Africa, so we wondered, could anyone in the know advise us on other makes of Zulu War 10mm figures that are compatible in size with Pendraken? Any suggestions that could improve the mix of figures would be appreciated.

I have thousands of Pendraken Zulu War figures, and a selection from three other manufacturers. The old Perrin line (now Magister Militum I believe?) are much thinner than Pendraken, and can't be used on the same base. They can be used in different units, but the difference is noticeable if that bothers you. On the other hand, the Steve Barber and Old Glory figures match up pretty well, and can provide some diversity and figure types that Pendraken still lacks. The Steve Barber figures are very nicely sculpted, as one would expect, while the OG figures are a bit crude (especially the Zulus), but paint up fairly well.

Cheers,

Christopher

I use Steve Barber figures with my Pendraken British as they are the only kneeling ones I can find. My Zulus are a right mix.

I use a mix of Steve Barber, Pendraken, Magister Militum, and Newlines. Note that these last often have four for the price of three offers.

They go together very well. Some are slighter than others, but the same is true of live Zulus. I used to live there. Are these the Zaal brothers that we're advising?
