"The A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game lets players take control of their favorite Houses from the novels, represented by trays of high-quality, pre-assembled miniatures, and lead them into battle against their opponents. Players can recreate their favorite moments from the series or create their own stories. What if the Red Wedding never happened, and Robb Stark assaulted King's Landing? Now fans can find out! Battles can range from large-scale wars with hundreds of miniatures, to simple skirmishes between a few units without complicating the elegantly designed rules. The game features several unique systems, including alternating activations that keep the players engaged; a Rank System that changes a unit's capabilities as the battle rages on; a Tactics System that provides strategic powers fueled by a finite resource each round; and, most importantly, the iconic Heroes, such as Robb Stark and Jaime Lannister, that can change the course of war both on and off the battlefield." Whoa. HUGE news. If the game is halfway decent I expect it will do very well. Thanks for sharing! -Will |

If only they made generic troops from the TV show. |

If only they made generic troops from the TV show. Funny because I actually hate the TV show troops and hope they do something closer to the book. To each his own! :) -Will |

wminsing: Strongly agree. If you use the book versions you can just buy high quality plastic 28mm figures. If they go with the show look – I'll pass. Dark Sword makes beautiful book figures (per Martin's specifications). But they are very large (35mm or so). TomT |

Strongly agree. If you use the book versions you can just buy high quality plastic 28mm figures. Yep, it will be interesting to see where the price point comes in and if it makes sense to buy these new models or stick Perry, Fireforge and company. No assembly does appeal to the 'holy crap I'm about to be a dad' factor. :) -Will |

Just checked the press release – its based on the books hence Song of Ice and Fire. Also minis are being done by Dark Sword which has book license not HBO – it appears the minis will be plastic. So far all good but it is a kickstarter… TomT |

Dark Sword makes plastic minis??? Crap. I am going broke, and will add another couple of armies to my heap (well, my wife does not call it a "heap", but a "damn mountain"). |
