If you prefer BK to Bigosz, you have your priorities mixed up.

I've never been to Poland, but my father told me a story about getting lost in Gdansk and finding slivovitz one night after the war.

I'm sure the boys and girls of this generation will get through their posting without undue hardship, and with help from the local brewers and distillers.

Everyone deserves a tasty Whopper. Just not fair.

Poland has McDonalds, so I'm sure they'll be able to cope. Hopefully, they'll make the effort to eat the local fare which is surprisingly good.

Yeah, unlike the sandbox there are joyful liquids in Polska

Po'boys. Let'em eat po-boy sandwiches and kielbasa sausages. There is little sympathy for their "Grim Ordeal".

Cheers.

Pierougies and Kielbase and some very nice beers…

And various frou frou vodkas for those who care for that.

Of course kielbase isn't colbasi, but it is almost as good.

Now that I think about it, Jewish and Muslim soldiers will probably find pork everywhere and in many forms from sausages to 1-kg pork knuckles, but they will have to look a little harder for non-pork meat.

At least there's MacDonald's.

Possibly not the best posting for soldiers who are non-white or gay.

Poland, and indeed all of Eastern Europe, have a lot of social attitudes we grew out of in the 1970s.

One of my wife's uncles, who lives in Dublin, was bemoaning the prejudice against immigrants in England one night, then spent the next hour complaining about the "disgusting prejudices and social conservatism" of the Poles in his own country. Priceless.

TBH we're not too bad. Most of our 'hate crimes' are people being abusive in the street.

In Germany they have a couple of firebomb attacks a week…

But I've read of black Canadian soldiers being greeted by monkey hoots etc.
