For myself it was Voyager hands down but when Seven of Nine showed up my opinion somewhat changed. Enterprise early one was bad but it did get better as is went along. |

I must be living in an alternate universe ? I found, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise much more to my liking. Than the others. Albeit I did enjoy ST & TNG as well. And I never watched the cartoon much. "One to beam up !" … Maybe in my Alt-Uni … the Sci-fi[Not SyFy !]Channel shows episodes of all ST series. At least once a day ! |
CeruLucifus | 15 Mar 2017 8:34 a.m. PST |
Voyager was the best. Deep Space Nine was the most boring. I'd put it on, people'd be talking, I'd doze off, wake up, they'd still be talking. Nothing ever happened. Of course with that reaction I couldn't be bothered to watch many episodes, so for all I know there are some exceptions that were watchable. (I know there is a vocal subgroup of Trek fans, possibly a majority, that has the opposite of my reaction to these two shows. Oh well.) All the series had some false starts the first season that were tightened up later. For example, Next Generation was the series that proved it was possible to update the Star Trek formula successfully, and because of that there was a Trek show afterwards for many years. That said some of the early episodes are interminable. |

Voyager. Techno-babble was the plot. Everything but the Original Serirs and the Animated Series? If it didn't have Kirk, Spock, abd Uhura, it just wasn't Star Trek. Yeah that too. At least in star wars the main characters relate to the cast in the movies in someway. |

There's a kid aboard our ship Wesley Crusher is his name He solves each and every problem we encounter here. We took a vote. We'll space him. It's embarrassing to Star Fleets finest crew to have the brat work all our problems through. |

Voyager is my least favorite. I think that all of the series except TOS and the animated series suffered their first year. From best to worst: TOS Animated TNG ENT DS9 VOY ENT didn't show what people wanted until the end and the first year was hard to watch. DS9 pushed the Trek universe in a new direction with the Dominion War too much for me. Hated Bajor/Kira but loved Quark VOY was hard to identify with. The hologram doctor concept was weak and I hated Kes/Neelix. Sometimes I think that the formula of a Spock like character has been done too much and we as an audience got burned out(Humans showing their morality to a computer like character). Spock Data Seven of Nine/Tuvok T'Pol But then again that maybe what makes the show Star Trek. |
javelin98 | 16 Mar 2017 6:46 p.m. PST |
TNG was the worst, IMHO, because it gave birth to much of the dreck that I hated in VOY/DS9/ENT. * Every alien/droid/whatever yearns to be more human. * Interstellar alien cultures with billions of individuals are somehow entirely monochromatic (all Ferengi are greedy merchants, all Klingons are Space Vikings obsessed with honor, all Cardassians are genocidal warmongers…) * Technobabble * Holodecks * Too much focus on the personalities in play instead of the situations. This was exemplified by Data's "To hell with our orders!" line in ST: First Contact (*shudder*), where the camera wasted precious plot-momentum panning around the bridge to see everyone smirk at the deliciously precious rebelliousness of our favorite pet android! That same pathetic dynamic played out in waaaaay too many episodes of TNG. Yeah, pretty much all the elements I disliked about the later series stemmed from TNG. TOS for the win! |
malleman | 16 Mar 2017 7:20 p.m. PST |
Javelin98- Good point about the alien cultures. That is why we should fear the Borg. |
tkdguy | 16 Mar 2017 9:44 p.m. PST |
Voyager was the worst by far. |
dilettante | 17 Mar 2017 6:05 p.m. PST |
Enterprise. Remember how they didn't want it to have Star Trek in the name? Until they saw how low the ratings were. This is the only modern series that didn't make it past 4 seasons. |
Balthazar Marduk | 20 Mar 2017 9:43 a.m. PST |
Voyager for sure… I quit it as soon as they started trying to get us hyped up for the musical episode. The final season was a complete waste. |

>* Interstellar alien cultures with billions of individuals are somehow entirely monochromatic (all Ferengi are greedy merchants, all Klingons are Space Vikings obsessed with honor, all Cardassians are genocidal warmongers…) Not true though… Mog was a terrible business man and his boy was more interested in killing the enemy than earning a profit. There was the Ferengi assassin in that one episode… |

I just watched the 'tribbles episode' from Deep Space Nine. All of the actors are fun and quite watchable, but their characters are boring, repetitive, and seem to have no cohesion as a crew. Terry Farrell, for example, is a good actress… but I'm tired of hearing her talking about her 'exciting' past. (yawn) The special effects – this is a time travel episode in which the DS9 crew are onboard the Enterprise during the original tribbles story – are very well done. The plot is like something designed by an eight-year-old. A bomb in a tribble? Really??? Then when the writers have to explain why Klingons look so different back then, all we get is a lame 'we don't talk about it.' Sad. |
javelin98 | 25 Mar 2017 9:31 p.m. PST |
I enjoyed that episode for the nostalgia factor, but the real let-down was that it had Avery Brooks in it. He was such a horrible actor that he made Kate Mulgrew look good. |
Wulfgar | 26 Mar 2017 1:09 p.m. PST |
I just couldn't get into Voyageur, no matter how hard I tried. Conversely, Enterprise was a lot of fun . . . even that theme song that no one seemed to like. I'm weird. |
(Major Disaster) | 01 Apr 2017 9:51 a.m. PST |
Worst… Voyager, but I'm sure it will become the second worst when (if) Discovery premieres |
chromedog | 02 Apr 2017 4:13 a.m. PST |
@Editor in chief Bill: That was also one of the plots in the original olden-days, dawn-of-time ST tribbles story. Bomb in a tribble. The main one was poison in the wheat stores. |

Old Contemptibles | 28 Jun 2017 3:28 p.m. PST |
First two seasons of TNG were bad. Got better after Roddenberry passed. He was re-hashing old Start Trek Classic episodes. Voyager just because of the premise. A few episodes were okay. The first couple of seasons of Enterprise were horrible. But the last two seasons were among the best ever. Too little too late. |
rbmgl2814 | 20 Jul 2017 5:14 p.m. PST |
Voyager, it is a cancer on the franchise, too much technobabble and never embraced the implications and possibilities of its core concepts |
rbmgl2814 | 10 Aug 2017 5:39 p.m. PST |
Voyager, because it ran away from rather than embraced the obvious implications of its core concept. Enterprise is close on its heels as it was slow and hesitant to exploit its core and setting |
Mooseworks8 | 11 Aug 2017 5:48 p.m. PST |
My preference for best in order: TNG Voyager Deep Space Nine Enterprise TOS |
The H Man | 14 Aug 2017 11:39 p.m. PST |
I think I am definitely onto something. Most people here seem to dislike Voyager. Most of these people seem to also be male. I have been saying for years that Voyager is star trek for women. I suspect they realized a lot of women like trek and, so made a show for them. Evidence: Female captain. A pixi and her pet dog (kes and nelix) An attractive, strong, exotic first officer. Close to Jane way but still has to do what she says. The ship has a somewhat female design, sleek, elegant. Strong female characters in belana and seven. So on… Interesting someone picked sevens arrival with the show getting better. Perhaps that was the point of her, to attract more males to the show. Personally I don't find her attractive, to severe in looks and personality, good character though. I am more of a dax man, at least as far as the two women, of course. Least favorite, new movie trilogy of course. After all I am a star trek fan. TV? Hmm. Animated is cannon (I think) but it's a bit unfair to compare it. Also it is really TOS anyway. Best to worst: TNG/TOS DS9/VOY/EN .. .. New movies (Space for Beyond) (OK, the trailer looked, Okish, but it pays to be prepaired) |
Gunfreak | 15 Aug 2017 3:26 a.m. PST |
I've watched all the shows (Except for animated) Many times. Enough times to have totally lost track of how many times I've watch them. But I have watched DS9 and voyager at least 6 times start to finish. With TNG several times more than that. They all have their qualities. Voyager has grown on me And I quite like it. It's like TNG with more action, better effects and generally less interesting characters. Some voyager episodes are very good. Others are extremely boring (something every single star trek show stuffer from) A lot of men don't seem to like Janeway. And sure she isn't Picard. But at least she isn't a whiny cry baby that Sisko is. I like DS9 but the weakest character in the whole show is the captain and that's not good. When Sisko is good he is very good. Sadly The only happens in 15% of episodes. |
The H Man | 15 Aug 2017 5:40 a.m. PST |
On the other hand, in DS9, the best character does not say anything. |
Old Contemptibles | 15 Aug 2017 9:19 a.m. PST |
I don't know what to vote for. I rate by seasons not the entire series. |
Gunfreak | 15 Aug 2017 9:44 a.m. PST |
Then you need to list the 28 seasons in the correct order. |
IUsedToBeSomeone | 27 Sep 2017 1:07 p.m. PST |
Ds9 – never managed to watch more than a handful of episodes.. they boldly stay in place…. Loved enterprise and voyager – that latter is my wife's favourite series… Find TOS a bit creaky nowadays… Mike |
Gunfreak | 27 Sep 2017 1:18 p.m. PST |
DS9 is boring season 1-2 than slightly better season 3. It's ramping up seasons 5 and then it's mostly balls to the wall intergalactic war last two seasons with huge epic space battles. |

The H Man | 28 Sep 2017 9:56 p.m. PST |
Haha haha. I see my theory may be again proven. Assuming most of the people commenting are male. This is not the first post of its type (or is it the same one?). Before this question has come up (and won't be the last). Last time most voted voyager worst also. This fits with my long standing theory that voyager is star trek for girls. Reasons: Female captain. Pixi and her pet doggy. Handsome strong exotic number one. Strong female characters. Even the ship looks feminine to me. Possibly more, if you look. I beleive most men (not myself though) don't like it. So maybe I am on to something. |
StarCruiser | 29 Sep 2017 6:35 a.m. PST |
I couldn't care less what color or gender (etc.) the Captain – or characters in general – are. A badly written story and cardboard cutouts for characters equals a crap show… |
The H Man | 29 Sep 2017 9:49 a.m. PST |
Personally I can't see the problem with it (voyager). We obviously went in expecting two different things. All the series are different, so I guess one has to be your least favorite. Fact stands, if one series was especially made for women folk, voyager would have to be it. Ds9 would have to be for the blokes. Or do I just like Dax too much? It's also got the most war, espionage and, of course, a pub! |
The H Man | 29 Sep 2017 10:07 a.m. PST |
Also stereotypical female activities of cooking, gardening and music feature heavily in voyager. Perhaps more than in other series. |
StarCruiser | 29 Sep 2017 4:53 p.m. PST |
Actually – I'm not even really talking about Voyager now – mostly Discovery. Pretty seriously crap so far… Voyager looks like high art by comparison. |

Enterprise (2001–05) Although the last season was better. The first two seasons of TNG was terrible but slowly got better. |
Old Contemptibles | 29 Sep 2017 10:44 p.m. PST |
The last season of DS9 was the best single season of any Star Trek series. |

That's because Ezri was in it. |
Gunfreak | 05 Oct 2017 1:25 a.m. PST |
Enterprise is still the worst. As Discovery isn't even star trek. Enterprise at least has some semblance of trek. Discovery doesn't. |
chromedog | 25 Oct 2017 2:58 p.m. PST |
Without exception, they ALL had a pretty ropey first three seasons. ToS only had 3 ropey seasons, then got axed. Enterprise picked up a bit in 4th, then got cancelled. DS9 started to hit its stride. TNG had got past the debacle that was season 2 and the writer's strike Voyager … well, voyager didn't get any better. I'm willing to wait for Disco to get better. I did the same for the other 4 shows. |
Captain Gideon | 30 Oct 2017 10:50 p.m. PST |
Eventhough it's not finished yet but coming in at second has got to be Star Trek Discovery it's very bad. |
