Here in northern NJ we have at least 9 inches of snow so far. And this is a good thing! How you ask?

Well I have the day off to work on my 2 Cold Wars battle tables. With the snow, the wife won't ask me to run out, or take the kids somewhere, etc etc. Just a full solid day of terrain building and painting. Of course that also means, shoveling the deck so I can go out and prime things to paint, in the snow.

Blizzard 17, putting the Cold in Cold Wars.

Well I hope to take advantage of the bonus day off much like you. I just got in from 1 1/2 hours of shoveling, the first of several rounds.

Let me know how that primer works in 40 mph gusts, this may be a brush on primer day:-)

Have fun!

Poniatowski14 Mar 2017 7:17 a.m. PST

Wait….. 9" of snow and you don't have to go to work? Man do I live in the wrong part of the country!!!!

LOL… sorry…. I am teasing… I live in the snow capitol of the US…. 9"… well, that's nothing, but I forget lots of folks elsewhere don't even have plows employed by their states or the means to handle such things…

PLEASE do be careful! If you are not used to the work out shovel slowly and take lots of breaks, we don't want to lose any gamers because of the storm!!!

Larry R14 Mar 2017 7:28 a.m. PST

I want to know how you prime in this?

Xintao14 Mar 2017 7:52 a.m. PST

Well I haven't tried priming yet. To be honest didn't think about the wind. Shoot.

Day off was planned to finish the boards, the snow just stops other people from bothering me.

Every cloud has a silver lining. Looking forward to the photos of the game in action….

Raining like crazy here near Atlantic City. I'll take that over the 2+ feet of snow it would have been otherwise.

Ottoathome14 Mar 2017 8:39 a.m. PST

Northwestern New Jersey here. 18" so far though it blows around a lot.

Happy the man who does not have to eat in the evening his words of the morning. On Society of Daisy (my Yahoo Wargame site) I was bragging I was prepared for the stow. Wood piled up by the wood stove, plenty of food, no where to go. This morning I get up at 7 am full of confidence. At last a nice foot of snow on the ground. The first REAL snow we've had in a while and a fit opponent for the brand spanking new snow blower I bought almost two years ago and never have had to use because the snow was insignificant. So I get up and go down to fire up my lawn-tiger tank to go out and do battle with the snow when I find out that I don't have one stinking, measly, #$^(@)(!!@#$$ can of 5W50 oil in the whole garage. Just got in from shoveling the 100 foot driveway the old fashioned way.

A fitting come-uppance for the pedant who is always nattering on the importance of logistics.

It rained here. Not much.

Next weekend is the re-enactment of the Guildford Courthouse battle.

Sleet, wind and snow here in my part of South Jersey near Philadelphia.

jdpintex14 Mar 2017 9:09 a.m. PST

The blizzard is rough on us here in Texas. We had to get jackets back out as the nights have dipped into the 40s. At least the rain has gone for the rest of the week.

Last year I didn't go as I was recovering from an MS attack and the ensuing snow storm was the last straw. This year I'm good and healthy and the snow isn't scaring me away. Hopefully, Cold Wars '17 won't see a loss of attendees like last year. Drive safe, everyone.

Just finished snow blowing my driveway. Only had about8-10 inches but it's sleeting quite heavily…
Glad this wasn't here Friday morning…

Best laid plans of mice and men…

Power keeps going off and on. About 6 times now. Keeps interrupting my builds.

While typing this on smartphone. 2 more times. Make it 3 times damn it.

Sorry Xintao,

It is drizzly, but relatively balmy here in Oregon, but we are just out of a miserable winter; we had snow on the ground for most of two months and numerous below zero nights. I guess it is just your turn.

Here is to hoping the local snow movers in Lancaster can clean off the various parking lots around the Host.

I figure the main roads ought to be scrapped by Thursday afternoon (coming from Michigan). But the parking lots of the restaurants et al depend upon smaller vehicles, trucks with snow plows, here in MI.

Those have more capacity limits on what they can move quickly.

At least the weekend appears to moderate in temperature and no moisture.

Sundays drive home looks quiet.

The storm is finally raging at full strength here in Maine. Our forecast is currently at 12-20" in my area. The snow and the parking lot snow mountains should all be gone in time for Huzzah on May 19-21

Ice Storm for southern Maryland:

At least it missed my game studio.

Doug MSC14 Mar 2017 2:35 p.m. PST

A balmy 80 here in Northern California. Sure beats the Evacuation of 200,000 of us we had a few weeks ago because of the DAM problems and all the rain.

capncarp14 Mar 2017 2:55 p.m. PST

Harrisburg got about a foot of snow, the boroughs have been hustling to get/keep the sidestreets cleared. Lancaster got about the same, I think. Some light snow showers have been floating down to add a millimeter ot two.

evilgong14 Mar 2017 3:35 p.m. PST

What is this snow stuff you talk of?

Moe the Great14 Mar 2017 3:55 p.m. PST

1' of snow here so far. Is it a Blizzard? No….

Here in Buffalo we call it Tuesday.

Winston0114 Mar 2017 8:29 p.m. PST

I have been wondering how many people will not be at Cold Wars especially from up North East. In DC proper we only had about 2 inches. Was no problem to shovel. It was expected to be worse. The ice would have taken down the trees in my yard but they have already been blown down by high winds over the last several years.
I will still be attending Cold Wars like every year but I have been their when many did not because of the weather. Seems like the last few years I always sign up for a game that gets cancelled because someone does not come.

custosarmorum Supporting Member of TMP14 Mar 2017 9:01 p.m. PST

Here in coastal Rhode Island, we had maybe 5" in the morning but by the early afternoon the snow turned to rain and so we have little snow left… just some slush (which no doubt will freeze overnight but it certainly won't keep me from Cold Wars.

skinkmasterreturns15 Mar 2017 9:15 a.m. PST

So many Cold Wars,so many blizzards.I wax nostalgic,as I havent been to an East con in years, but I wont forget2009(?) when the snow and sleet hit Friday morning, and Lancaster was shut down by 6pm.We holed up in the Host and gamed. It was wonderful.

vonLoudon16 Mar 2017 9:19 a.m. PST

We've got 3 inches in Loudoun. Solid brick ice. Could have been worse. I've braved storms before. Not going to make this one regrettably.
