Finished up my first full unit of my Renaissance skeletons, a regiment based for Kings of War. I'm going to point these out as skeleton archers, with the idea that darts of death would be as accurate and ranged as a bow. Accurate for skeletons that is…

The use of a javelin/ dart type projectile has precidence not only in Breugel's paintings, but in contemporary illuminations showing soldiers in continental armor with them.

This unit was inspired by the painting Triumph of Death by Peter Breugel. I like to think of them as "late German".

That is so unbelievably creepy. I love it.

Crazyivanov- Thanks- they do feel like they mean buisiness, don't they? Breugel has an interesting mix of grim and comedy in his work, that we'll be trying to capture with the line of minis.

Art History meets Wargaming! Who says this hobby isn't educational?

A fantastic looking unit.

These are great figures. I was lucky enough to get a preproduction halberdier as seen below.

I went with a greenish cast to the figure since it's supposed to still have the dessicated skin on it.

Very cool! Creepy, but in a good way.

Very nice! Especially the coffin lid shields without the tired "creepy moss and fungus"-theme which are so over used on undead armies.

Black Cavalier- it was great to see you at the convention. I love what you did with the halberdier- wonderfully moldy!I'm going to have to try that technique.
Here's a shot of a conversion to see how sword and shield would look on my models.
