I recently came across these two packs of minis done by Liberation Miniatures in 20mm and they're quite nice looking:

Is there much out there in the way of 20mm sci-fi grunts, aliens and vehicles?

I don't really think there is much, unless you want to convert 1/72 figs from Revell. Does Liberation publish a ruleset they're trying to support or anything?

There's the old line of Blad Miniatures of which I hav about a squad (10 men) painted up and a few strays unpainted. Nice minis. Brookhurst used to carry them.

Now they are cast and sold by another fellow whose name escapes me. I someone else will step in and help out here.

The short of it is they're worth pursuing, but the current purveyor does not have any pics on his site. I wanted to order more stuff, but couldn't really tell what was what.

That was about 1-2 years ago, I think.

Ooops! That's BLADE Miniatures, not Blad! Sorry!

dragonshoard in the UK do a small 20mm sci fi range. They used to do 20mm stargate, but had a lot of trouble during the 'IP vigilante' nonsense a while back they withdrew most of it. now they do stuff that looks like stargate but with jaffa heads that don't look like the movie or TV series. They also have a small range of humans to go with them.

hope it helps.

Liberations figures and the Blade figures are one in the same. I think Rolf has been adding / updating some of the figures and vehicles since he bought the line.

Reveresco (sp) has 20mm Sci-Fi. Aliens of different shapes and styles too.

Yep, Starguard figures are in 1/72nd scale and are still available at Reviresco:

Hasbro do a range of Star Wars micro-machines figures which are about 1:76 and fit well with Airfix. IIRC you get 9 in a pack, pre-painted to a rather rough standard, but useable.

They also do an 'action fleet' range which usually features slightly larger figures, and 'box scale' vehicles, which mostly work pretty well with 20mm figures. They are starting to get more expensive and difficult to find now (although there are still plenty on ebay).

The more generic parts of the range (Death Star Troopers and the like) would probably work well. Stormtroopers are maybe a bit too distinctive to use in a non-Star Wars game.

Nexus has re-released the old and short-lived Atlantic 1/72 figures. They look vaguely like the old GW figures from the late 80's, but not enough that they're copies, just the same 'vibe'. My wife has promised that if I'm good, I can have a box of them in a month :)

The old RAFM Heavy Gear models were 1:87/20mm. Good line, the infnatry was lacking, but they're not the point, are they?

Try Stan Johansen's Hiss figures. His Road Warrior guys are 20mm. The old Battletech Mech Warriors were about 1/72. How about the Bluebird brand figures from the '80's?

What about 20mm sci-fi terrain? Any good companies out there?

I'm trying to talk Fernvale Speciality Scenics into doing some sci-fi stuff – his scale is suited to 20mm. Just bug Procopious here on TMP and he'll get the hint ;-)
