Bonjour Chaps, I need some more of these after my interest in 20mm WW2 was rekindled last weekend at a wonderful Rapid Fire game at the Wargames Holiday Centre. Loads of choice but which ones to go for? I'm lazy and don't like spending money but I thought that I could get some of the rather wonderful Dragon diecast to start with and then bulk-up with some cheaper alternatives but with so many to choose from wargames manufacturers can anyone tell me why they prefer any in particular e.g. Britannia, Rapid Fire, Armourfast etc? Cheers, Paul |

I second PSC. Each box allows you to build 2 or 3 variants including types that were present in Normandy. Quick to build and have a good level of detail. I can't vouch for the armourfast version but I have their Cromwells and like them. |

PSC for fast build. Revell Panzer IV for proper kits. |

Agreed: PSC – very fast build. Revell – one of their best 1/72nd Scale kits; much slower build but looks great when finished. |

The Revell is a beauty. The PSC scrubs up pretty well and a a lot quicker build.

I recently faced exactly the same dilemma. Like the OP, I am cautious and idle when it comes to kitbuilding. The PSC boxes offered the right version for Normandy (G/H) while the Armourfast ones did not, I bought half a dozen PSC tanks. At the same time, I was a tiny bit concerned about some of the detail after being able to examine the Revell marvel up close. Looking at some old Armourfast sprues I had, I thought that certain of these pieces (turret cupola, armour around the driver's station) looked more in scale. So I've opted to take the best of each. Note also that these late Pz.IVs should have a one-piece lid on the turret and a twin-baffle muzzle brake. Such things wouldn't trouble me in 6mm, but in 20 … Note that Piers B (and maybe Leon A above) have sourced aftermarket gun barrels – those supplied by PSC are frankly real dogs. |

Gents thanks for the excellent advice. Leon and wrgmr1's are just fabulous! I've decided to mix and match with some cheap and cheerful Altaya type ready-made, although I appreciate they're not great, plus some Dragon examples to provide something "instant" to go with the 3 "CDC Armour" which are the same size and quality of the wonderful Dragon ones plus 2 old Esci examples. After that I'll build a few PSC examples! Cheers, Paul |

Gents, Just a quick follow-up. Just received 3 Unimax Panzer IVs which are excellent and an e-Bay bargain at 3 for £28.00 GBP including £12.00 GBP postage. link Look much better in the "flesh"! Cheers, Paul |

Field of Glory Models sell RB but plenty of sellers on Ebay, I use Pancerka Shop Model a bit, they are in Poland I think and very zippy service. L |
