Would the bottom lip be improved by some texture/flock to tie it into the table?

Very nice! I think you're right about terraining the bottom lip, though.

Looks great! And your terrain overall has a far more 'alien' look than many tables that have commercially produced pieces sitting on grass green cloth. (This is a pet hate of mine – I just cannot imagine beautifully manicured grass lawns on alien worlds!)
