I am looking for info about Venetian uniforms from 1680 to 1710. So far Google hasn't been much help and The Vinkhuijzen Collection of Military Uniforms*, although it has a large number of plates of Italian uniforms has very few covering the time period I'm interested in and none specifically Venetian. I do have some pictures of German troops in Venetian service but I'd like to get a look at what the Venetian soldiery looked like (always assuming, of course, that their army wasn't made up entirely of mercenaries). This is a very low-priority project, so if anyone can point me in the right direction from memory it would be nice but please don't go hauling the dusty reference tomes down from the attic on my account. I have a book, in Italian, with colour plates, and some English text. Not sure where it is, and may not be able to find it quickly. But, from what I remember, most of the Venetian army in this period were mercenaries. Considerable numbers as whole regiments from Germany. I seem to remember the uniforms being quite a mixture. I will try and dig it out and reference it back later. But some of the pictures are here – doge.it/esercito/evi.htm | | simone | 06 Mar 2017 7:23 p.m. PST

I thought I had sent some thanks for the additional information but apparently it got lost in the shuffle. featherlessquetzal: I have a copy on order. stecal: they don't seem to have Issue 0 on their website but I did pick up Issue 1 which has the second part of the article. I inquired about the availability of Issue 0 but haven't received a reply yet. Thanks very much to everyone. LT
