News from Lincoln Highway, just in time for Cold Wars. Lots of us have eaten at the Star Buffet.

Truly troubling.

TheKing3006 Mar 2017 4:06 p.m. PST

Funny – I ate there at Fall In and I really didn't like it. This sealed it for me. For their sake I hope this was all an accident.

Watching the news this evening they said that the Apple juice had been purchased from at what they are saying at this point in the investigation another location. So from that it might mean it was tampered with before it got to the Star Buffet or possibly even before it got to the other location where it was purchased from. Have to wait and see what they conclude.

THAT'S going to help business…..

I have not eaten there. Not a big fan of Chinese buffets.

For me, it was just something I passed on the way to the Arby's.

But was there ever a proper memorial service fr the Lapp's?

Hafen von Schlockenberg06 Mar 2017 8:51 p.m. PST

Hope they're OK.

Why aren't you all going to Good and Plenty, the Wargamer's Paradise?

"For me, it was just something I passed on the way to the Arby's.

After numerous cases of food poisoning in my gaming group from that cursed place the only memorial they deserve is a mass regurgitation into a hole. Good riddance!!

We don't allow poison apple juice at the Williamsburg Muster.

I'm just saying.

Hey Double G, doesn't the "Haberdasher" eat there?

Yeah, well, you guys just don't know how to game on the edge. We Pennsylvanians like to live dangerously. Three Mile Island is only about 30 miles upstream. And we _like_ it that way. We like it _just_ _fine_!

IF you ever worked at a restaraunt, you know.

Don't eat the buffet.

Hafen von Schlockenberg09 Mar 2017 7:07 a.m. PST

And, if you ever worked in a flour mill, you know.

Don't eat bread.

TSD10109 Mar 2017 8:40 a.m. PST

While we're on the topic, I'll throw this out there. This past Fall In my credit card information was stolen and used to fraudulently purchase over $150 USD in goods at the Weis market in downtown Lancaster 2 weeks after the convention. The only place I had used it was the Golden Corral across the street from the Host.

If you plan on eating there, I highly advise you use cash and save yourself the headache.

And Hafen spake thusly:
"And, if you ever worked in a flour mill, you know.

Not all food production places are dirty or unsanitary: The KFC I worked in during high school served the most flavorful, most tender Kentucky Fried Rats this side of the Mississippi! Whisker-nibblin' good!

AussieAndy10 Mar 2017 12:40 a.m. PST

I have one that combines rats and bread. My firm prosecuted a local bakery over a food standards breach. A rat had got into the machine that mixes the dough and was then baked whole in a loaf of bread. The customer who bought the loaf wanted it sliced. She got home to find that she had bought interesting cross sections of a cooked rat.

The bakery in question is a long, long way from The Host.

OH!!! I just spit coffee…. AussieAndy.. you made my day… in a sad, creepy way because I find that so humorous!

AussieAndy10 Mar 2017 8:10 a.m. PST

It is so awful, that it is amusing. I don't think that is sad and creepy. It just makes me eternally grateful that I wasn't the customer.

Hafen von Schlockenberg11 Mar 2017 3:28 p.m. PST

And Hafen spake thusly:

Wow--first time I've ever been quoted in such a majestic manner! Look for stone tablets coming soon! Hmm,wonder how I could work in some cymbal crashes. . .

I did work in a flour mill the summer after high school.* Though I can't come quite up to AussieAndy's retch-inducing level, I could tell some stories. My "no bread ever" resolution didn't last,I have to admit--I have a weakness. Best not to think about it.

*During the day. Played in a rock band at night. I'm surprised I can still hear anything.
