Have you sold off any of your wargaming projects in the past twelve months? |
whitphoto | 06 Mar 2017 7:59 a.m. PST |
Yes. HAD to make room. I'm still trying to get rid of stuff… |
Virtualscratchbuilder | 06 Mar 2017 8:15 a.m. PST |
Yes…. more under consideration. |
79thPA | 06 Mar 2017 8:27 a.m. PST |
Yes. Thinking about selling more. |
Col Durnford | 06 Mar 2017 8:32 a.m. PST |
Yes, Three reasons: 1) Sold items were out of scale, I lost interest, or were replaced with better options. 2) Guilt free money to the war gaming budget. 3) On page 637 of the an 840 page book – I know I'm not in the sequel. |
Frothers Did It And Ran Away | 06 Mar 2017 8:47 a.m. PST |
Yep. Been rationalising/downsizing my gaming. Of course I'll probably end up buying more figures with the proceeds…. |

Not yet. Prepping some terrain pieces in need of a new home. I built a bunch of guard towers using a batch of Pumpkin stems I got off of e-Bay, a few years ago (built a platform atop the stems, which resemble tree trunks for 25mm figures). I only need 6, made 12 because I had the stems. Bases warped over time, re-basing them now. Once finished, they will go up on the selling block. Also have a bunch of round towers I made from heavy cardboard tubes my son gave me from an old job of his. Need to finish them, but, again, I only need 6, and I am making around 15 of these bad boys! I love making them, and I will price them to move: they cost me very little in materials. My time is valuable, but I get so much enjoyment out of the work, I don't care much about profit… I'd make a horrible Ferengi -- they would toss me off of the top of the Tower of Commerce!!! Cheers! |

Someone would have to be really desperate to pay for my work. |
IUsedToBeSomeone | 06 Mar 2017 9:08 a.m. PST |
Yes, several to clear some space and narrow down to fewer collections I use more often… Mike |

Yes, if it has been sitting for a very long time without any work on it, then I am selling it. I need to downsize for better storage space. Matthew |
Rich Bliss | 06 Mar 2017 9:16 a.m. PST |
No. Keep considering unloading my 15mm Ottomans, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. |
Just Jack | 06 Mar 2017 9:24 a.m. PST |
Yep. I try to take a look at my stuff at regular intervals, and if I haven't touched it in 3+ years, probably time to go. Particularly if I've begun buying the same stuff, just in a different scale… V/R, Jack |
kiltboy | 06 Mar 2017 10:03 a.m. PST |
I haven't sold off a project but I will part with projects that didn't get past the "buying lead" stage. After I start painting there is too much time involved and they don't really take up that much space. I will regularly reassess the lead mountain and sell of pieces I don't need as a project closes. David |
Larry R | 06 Mar 2017 10:04 a.m. PST |
I'm trying to but no buyer presently |
jambo1 | 06 Mar 2017 10:33 a.m. PST |
Yep and more to come, too many stalled projects and they are taking up more room than I have. |
cosmicbank | 06 Mar 2017 10:34 a.m. PST |
Yes been selling 15mm projects that have stalled. Having some luck but most of the offers I am getting are silly. (low) |
robert piepenbrink | 06 Mar 2017 10:45 a.m. PST |
Let's see: 1/72 Mexican War 30mm Spenser Smith SYW 30mm flat AWI 10mm Marlburians 20mm CLS Napoleonics 20mm SCW 10mm ACW At least two others. I remember I was up to nine discards with several more to go. I will still have too many when I'm done. |

Yes, selling projects which never were completed or never really started. Will be concentrating on fewer periods and projects. |
pzivh43 | 06 Mar 2017 11:01 a.m. PST |
Yes. 15mm moderns, 15mm ACW, 15mm Napoleonics and 15mm Sudan. So far, I've replaced the modern and ACW with 28s. Holding off on the Nap and colonial, but I can hear the siren call….. |
Jefthing | 06 Mar 2017 11:10 a.m. PST |
Yes. Cutting down for reasons of space and so I can concentrate on a few favourite periods. Also stuff I've done on a whim then found I can't be bothered to play: 15mm Rapid Fire Guards Armoured, anyone? I've been doing this for about two years and so far not missed anything. |
Titchmonster | 06 Mar 2017 11:22 a.m. PST |
Yes when it comes to unpainted. I went through a phase and sold a fair amount of painted stuff only to regret it later. I'm in the no more buying phase. I've reviewed the projects underway and those in the back of the drawer and there is nothing to offload in terms of miniatures. I do have a bunch of various things like 1/32 scale tanks and other "projects" that need to go. |
Bashytubits | 06 Mar 2017 11:27 a.m. PST |
I have sold much with a lot more to go. |
The Beast Rampant | 06 Mar 2017 11:38 a.m. PST |
Also yes, with more to go. Along with books, clothes, old toys, collectables…it's high time I decluttered. I've been doing this for about two years and so far not missed anything. Here, too. and I have been pleseantly surprised on the last part. |
Tacitus | 06 Mar 2017 12:03 p.m. PST |
Can't do it. Not yet. Still have room. |
leidang | 06 Mar 2017 12:13 p.m. PST |
I've started to divest of certain periods and scales. Usually stuff that I never seem to play or haven't worked on in a long time. IN the past 2 years I've gotten rid of * 15mm ACW (Very large completed collection) * 28mm WWII Desert Project (LRDG) – Half completed. * All my spaceships – Half completed, half bare metal * 28mm Zombies – hundred or so zombies and a bunch of survivors all painted. |

No but I've got a few things to sell that I must photograph and advertise. |

Discarded 4 and picked up 2… |
Ceterman | 06 Mar 2017 3:34 p.m. PST |
I should, but as of now, only my 20mm WW2. Replaced with 28mm WW2. I did sell quite a bit of terrain, mainly used for the same. Still have some odds & ends to get rid of. Not really any "projects" tho, more like "stuff I don't really know or remember where or why I got em! |
ZULUPAUL | 06 Mar 2017 3:58 p.m. PST |
Working on making the big step to sell off parts of projects like Bandai WWII tank kits, but haven't made the jump yet. |
Endless Grubs | 06 Mar 2017 4:20 p.m. PST |
In the process of identifying what stays and what goes. Played with the idea of selling at the flea market at Little Wars but I don't think I could handle it solo… Too many grandiose ideas, few opponents and not much room or time to spare. |
D A THB | 06 Mar 2017 5:35 p.m. PST |
Yes, still trying to downsize. |

Sold some small projects, but even gave away many more painted collections in the course of a cross-country move. I share my thoughts about it here: link |
Cyrus the Great | 06 Mar 2017 9:08 p.m. PST |
The only time I've done it was when others backed out of a project we had all committed to do. |
Virtualscratchbuilder | 07 Mar 2017 4:37 a.m. PST |
I have a lot of stuff where i think "if someone asks on TMP" I will sell it. Perhaps we should have a "thining of selling" board where we can test interest. |
79thPA | 07 Mar 2017 5:05 a.m. PST |
You can test interest by putting it on the marketplace. If someone wants what you have at what you are asking, they will contact you. |
Virtualscratchbuilder | 07 Mar 2017 5:38 a.m. PST |
Indeed but I would hate to see marketplace clogged up by non-sales posts. |
Col Durnford | 07 Mar 2017 6:41 a.m. PST |
I would sooner see an "armies for trade" section on the marketplace. Like the exchange only for whole collections. |
Patrick R | 07 Mar 2017 3:58 p.m. PST |
I sold a few Star Trek ships to a friend, I only had a handful of them and they are of more use if used inside a much larger collection. |
