Rear views of muslim warriors showing how armour looks at the back are not common. Here are some from the 14th century: Ilkhanid Soldiers in the 'Demotte' Shahnameh, A Battle Scene, Tabriz, c.1340-1350 This also shows some unusual neck armour.
Mamluk cavalryman on a pen box by Ahmad al DhakiRavan, king of Lanka and king of the demons, lies dead before Rama, a scene from the Indian epic, the Ramayana in the 1305-14 Jami' al-Tawarikh by Rashid al-Din.Cavalry pursue enemies in the Diez_Album, an early 14th century copy of Jami' al-Tawarikh by Rashid al-Din, TabrizKing Minuchihr of Iran kills the fleeing Turanians in the illustrations of Jalayrid Mongols from a late 14th Century Shahnama, Fatih Album (Hazine 2153) of the Saray AlbumsDruzhina 14th Century Illustrations of Costume & Soldiers |

Due to a change by the host warfare.netau.net no longer works with a www in front of the URL. Here are some new links: Ilkhanid Soldiers in the 'Demotte' Shahnameh, A Battle Scene, Tabriz, c.1340-1350 This also shows some unusual neck armour.

Interesting how the fleeing cav don't do any Parthian shots. So these are real routing guys, not just "fleeing". |

Unfortunately the Diez album was made by cutting the pictures out of a manuscript, so there is no text to give a better idea of what is happening, but, scabbards and bowcases are empty. Druzhina Illustrations of Costume & Soldiers |
