Years ago I bought some great Stukas from Dragon Models. I think their scale was around 1:144 or something close. They were highly detailed and nicely painted. I'm looking to find US aircraft and a few more German, for the air component of land battles. I don't think Dragon do these any more. Any suggestions for aircraft that will work reasonable well with 15 mm ground forces?

Yep, 1/144th scale.

Some people use 1/144th with 15mm troops, and ignore the scale differences, since aircraft are pretty large, compared to ground vehicles and troops.

1/100th will also work.

I've got some surplus stuff, if you are interested, e.g. prepainted 1/144th scale aircraft, and also some of the very nice AIM, 1/100th scale resin planes. Some of the latter are also OOP with the manufacturer, but they don't come painted.

E-mail me at topgungrav AT yahoo D0T c o m if you are interested in them.

This blog has links to 1/144 scale aircraft, including some pre-painted.

The pre-painted Dragon Stukas were sold under the Can.Do Pocket Army brand.

F-toys and 21st Century Toys also made WWII pre-painted aircraft in 1/144.

Check Hobby Lobby. In their model section you'll often find Model Power brand die cast aircraft. They are "box scale" so not to one scale, but look good and are pretty cheap. That's what I use in 15mm….

Check out F-Toys, Takara and 21st Century 1/144th scale aircraft on Ebay. All 3 companies offers are pre-painted though the first two require assembly. The first two also come with decals though for Germans will have to purchase (I-94 for one) the swastikas for the tail. You can also find some of the Dragon Stukas there.

Like many I much prefer using 1/144th with my 15mm.

I have a lot of extra 1/144 WWII aircraft covering all the Major participants and many of the Minor ones. Let me know what you need and I'll see if I have it.

Wings of Glory does a range of WWI & WWII prepaints in 1/200 scale.
