I posted about these a month ago and updated it this morning here: link – now much of it is on sale:

More pics in the link I provided above, but also there are the little 12"x12" "grass" mats -surely one could find a use for these – I was thinking scrub for Jungle/Darkest Africa but if done properly it may have value as undergrowth almost anywhere:

By the way – this is how you use the "Wargaming in [location X]" board.

Those mats look nice. I like the irregular shape.

Thanks, Flashman14!

The sign says the sale runs from Feb 26 thru Mar 4. :(

Great stuff. Too bad I missed it by a day. :(

Those grass mats look like they might be useful for fields, and/or very long grass areas on a terrain board.

Thanks for sharing.

They have coupons every week, so you can probably get at least one item for 40% – 50% off.

I'm sure they will be marked down further or removed rather than go back up to full price.

I grabbed some last year when they went on clearance. They also have a roll of moss.

I just received an email from Michaels, the 12x12 mats are still on sale until the eleventh of March.

Just went right now to my local store. Everything marked "Greenhouse market" (all the the items discussed) were still marked 40% off :)

Here's a link to the Michael's homepage. On it there is a coupon for 50% off a regular price item. That is for today but they usually have something similar.

Those coloured lichens would be useful for sci-fi too.

Yes, that's what I was thinking, alien worlds (colored lichen moss). Weird plants form the aquarium section of large pet stores is also a useful source for this. I wonder if Michael's has this lichen in Martian Red??

They have printable coupons on the internet, so if you live near one, or it's on your way to/from work, you can buy stuff daily, at 50% off, I suspect.

I picked up half a dozen different moss mats and four of the grass mats today. That'll keep me busy for awhile.
The moss mats sure look like they could have a lot of uses. They also make a 48" roll of the moss mats that you could use to cut out smaller pieces.

My local Michael's had that stuff on a 2-for-1 sale when I was in last night, picked up the teal and blue lichen, and some large cork chunks and light grey ballast/small gravel. The plastic plants weren't worth it even with the sale, I have lots of dollar store stuff sitting around.

No Martian red lichen that I saw, though I'm thinking you could probably take some of the lighter stuff and dye it.
