Hi! I like old wargame magazine, but most of them is very rare and expensive in paper versions. Can anybody help me? Where I may found this in digital? Most interested magazine 1950-1970 years: War Game Digest, Table Top Talk, Midwest Wargamer's Association Newsletter (MWAN), Panzerfaust magazine, The Courier, Aerodrome etc. I found part of them on Wargame Vaul, but only too new volume, what about some older? Also, I found some individual articles from this magazines, but almost no one complete issue. |

Old magazines like that predate the Internet, so the only way you are going to find any on-line is if someone has scanned every page of such a magazine. Pretty unlikely. To say nothing of potential copyright issues … |

Dos Vedanya! I have a large number of MWAN's covering many years. They appear to have no cash value, but anyone--not least our friend archangelsasha--willing to pay for shipping can have them for free. If interested, contact me at TVAG@att.net TVAG |

Strange. I see offers of magazines all the time, and my conclusion is they have NO cash value. I see them at cons marked "free" (and they remain unclaimed). I've seen numerous offers here on TMP – pay the postage and they're yours, like the above. Where are you looking that they are "expensive."? |

Ebay – people sell them, or at least list them, for ~£5 for WI, MW, PW etc. |

TVAG, I'll keep that in mind. I have quite a few MWANS and always looking to fill a few gaps. |

Anyone who wants to get rid of their old magazines, please consider donating them to the Wargaming Magazine Index: link |

There is a vendor that sets up at the HMGS, Inc. cons (Fall-In!, Cold Wars) that sells a lot of old magazines. I cannot for the life of me recall the name of the business. (I think the word "Amusement" is in their name.) Can someone help with the info? |

I've got MWAN's going back to the single digits. All of the British glossies also. Whenever I am laid up with an illness or injury, I pass the time by leafing through these old friends. It's fun to see how far the hobby has come. |

Phil Dutre does "donating" mean you pay for postage? Especially across the Atlantic. |

does "donating" mean you pay for postage? Especially across the Atlantic. Depends on how much the postage is ;-) Most donations so far were given to me at one of the European cons, or through mutual friends who attended these cons. Since this is a side hobby project for me, I cannot spend huge amounts of money on this. I welcome donations if people want to get rid of their old magazines and there is a relatively easy way of getting them to me. I think sending mags across the Atlantic might be too costly … |

Zone of Control. That is "On Military Matters" owned by Dennis Shorthouse. I have the complete collection of The Courier, Historical Gamer, Wargame Digest, Table Top Talk, and Wargamers Newsletter. Every copy. Not selling though. |

Otto- Thanks but that's not the vendor I am speaking about. I know "On Military Matters" well and have looked, shopped and bought a few times. The dealer I am remembering sets up almost dead center of the hall each time. They have bins and bins of new and used Osprey books and lots of boxes of old magazines on the cheap. They have a small selection of old books and some jewelry as well. Oh, well, I guess I'll see in two weeks. |

Hi gays. Sorry for long silence, but this forum has rules: "There is a waiting period of three days before new members may post on the forums" – when I can't comment my own topic. I think it's strange. Now by subject. I try write more detail. I search magazine from period 1957 (first wargame magazine) – before 1971. In this period published (as I know) following magazines: War Game Digest (1957-1963), Table Top Talk (1962-1967), Wargamers' Newsletter (1962-?) Midwest Wargamer's Association Newsletter (MWAN) (1964-), The General (1964-98 ), SLINGSHOT (1965-), Panzerfaust magazine (1967-82), Miniatures Parade (1967-) Strategy & Tactics (1967-) The Courier (1968-2005), Aerodrome (1969-?) May be any others, which I dont know? Of them I have S&T and The General (in digital), and I ordered on the SoA site DVD with Slingshot for 1965-2015. Now I search others. It is realy rare offer on ebay. By expensive – first issue War Game Digest has circulation only 40 pieces. I think it may cost not cheap (if it survived). May be I'm mistaken. Also, shipping in Russia cost more then across USA. So is anybody has any of this magazines? And who may sell, or gift (I'll pay for shipping, of course), or may be digitize its? Or give me advice where I can search? |

>too bad magweb went belly up I agree, but then again, I co-founded it. :) The biggest obstacle today for something like a MagWeb (digitized magazines) is that the copyright laws have tightened and changed over the last decade. For example, if I recall right (dangerous), the US signed up for equivalent EU copyright rules in 2013 that mandated electronic rights be specifically mentioned and obtained from European authors (or estates). Older magazines that became defunct transferred the rights to the articles back to the original authors. Just about all current magazines now buy all rights to avoid problems. Then again, unless it's changed after the brouhaha a few years ago, Facebook has equal rights to everything posted on its site -- and used personal photos as part of its marketing campaigns without the original user knowing about it. It pays to read the fine print instead of just clicking I Accept. E-bay, Bartertown, and TMP certainly helped boost access to back issue sales -- probably your best bet. |
