WGN-Channel 9, live broadcast at HMGS-Midwest Little Wars, Lombard, IL,
April 28
Greeting fellow gamers, this year we will have the opportunity to be the focus of a live television broadcast at Little Wars. WGN-Channel 9 Morning news, has a segment called "Around town with Anna Belaval." During the course of the morning news program (8:00am to 10:00am), they do an interspaced series of 7 live feeds. They will do both descriptive commentaries and interviews.
Currently we are looking at featuring Registration, Paint and Take, the Vendors, and of course the games in the ballroom. I know the times of the broadcast are not exactly compatible with the LW normal schedule, but they do not run this show on the weekends.
Friday, April 28th Tentative schedule:
7:55 HEADLINE SHOT Outside/background shots of convention
This will be of the hall and signage, with conventioneers in the background.
8:20 LONG TEASE #1 Registration-Interview

The registration area with interviews with staffers and with conventioneers

8:40 SHORT TEASE #2 Paint and take-Interview

Paint and take will be set up, we could use people to be there early, to be painting. The possibility to be interviewed as well.

8:55 MAIN HIT #1 Gaming hall-Interview

This will be shots of games that are set up, with interviews of the GMs. If you are planning to be running a game on Friday morning, it would be great if it could be set up prior to the broadcast.

9:20 LONG TEASE #3 Vendors-Interview

A trip to the vendor's area, we have some vendors that will be set up, for a potential visuals and interview.

9:40 SHORT TEASE #4 Gaming hall

This will be shots of games that are set up.

9:45 MAIN HIT #2 Gaming hall-Interview

This will be shots of games that are set up, and are just getting started, with interviews of the GMs and players.

If you are planning to be at Little Wars, on Friday morning and wish to be a part of this broadcast, please contact me for coordination. Also if you do not wish to be a part please be aware of the schedule and times.

Thank you in advance for helping promote our hobby and the HMGS-Midwest organization.

Remember to wear a clean t-shirt and use deodorant…..

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Actually, WGN does do the around town segment on their weekend morning news. The Friday time slot may be more likely to attract a few attendees, though.

I'd be happy to help out, but I have a face for radio…

Imagine the response if everyone had the jacket and tie look going on.

This should be a great boost to the hobby locally and hopefully up attendance at all the regions gaming conventions!

Even though I am in Philly I get that channel. I must remember this.

Hi Kevin-

I was actually just making a joke about my appearance, and am not going to make it to the convention until later in the day. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to lead you on!
