Is your basement used for miniature wargaming?

Ragbones02 Mar 2017 8:46 p.m. PST

My current game room is in the basement but it'll be moving to the main living level hopefully this time next year. I also have a small 3'x3' table in the Master suite for either a skirmish game or board game.

JimSelzer02 Mar 2017 9:06 p.m. PST

where else would swmbo allow you to play?

Atomic Floozy02 Mar 2017 9:06 p.m. PST

Most houses where I live(Texas)don't have basements.

bhall38902 Mar 2017 9:11 p.m. PST

I'm in the basement… and I'm never getting out.

Dances with Clydesdales02 Mar 2017 9:12 p.m. PST

I used to, when I had a basement.

Yes.

coryfromMissoula02 Mar 2017 9:19 p.m. PST

Yes, though I have aspirations of a second game room over the garage, not to replace the basement but augment it.

Ed Mohrmann Supporting Member of TMP02 Mar 2017 9:22 p.m. PST

Not any longer…

Andy Maloney02 Mar 2017 9:43 p.m. PST

Yes – 1500+ sq ft Is all mine, except I do share w/ the cat… I'll live with it.

War Panda02 Mar 2017 9:48 p.m. PST

Yes. And No.

I'm sometimes allowed to set up a smaller table on the ground floor.

But all my tabletop boardgaming is done upstairs when there all more guests/players.

Gonsalvo02 Mar 2017 9:54 p.m. PST

Yes, the basement – have a 6 x 20 foot table down there. Much better than the un-insulated attic of my parents house where I played growing up – freezing in winter, broiling in summer!

AussieAndy02 Mar 2017 10:04 p.m. PST

It is called a cellar, rather than a basement, but it is full of wine anyway. So no gaming there. I do store my latex terrain there, as it can get to 40 degrees celsius plus here.

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP02 Mar 2017 10:22 p.m. PST

You bet. Although I have a room built down there to game. The rest of the basement is for painting and figure storage along with the big screen, couch, etc.

Very few houses here have basements.

JimDuncanUK03 Mar 2017 1:58 a.m. PST

No basement.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP03 Mar 2017 2:21 a.m. PST

When I lived in one, certainly. Since my house is on a slab, not so much.

Texas Jack03 Mar 2017 2:27 a.m. PST

No gaming in my basement, thatīs where I keep the booze.

Nick Bowler03 Mar 2017 2:34 a.m. PST

If there were such things as basements in Florida….they would be full of water….so no.

pzivh43 Supporting Member of TMP03 Mar 2017 4:32 a.m. PST

Yes

smolders03 Mar 2017 4:56 a.m. PST

Basement

Zargon03 Mar 2017 4:59 a.m. PST

Amongst the whips, gags and suspension rigs all done in Red and black leather? Err! No don't think so, far too dangerous.
Sad to say but mainly at others homes and clubs, I've got a small place for building and painting in the garage which is cleared away every night. Sadly they don't build basements here.

Cosmic Reset03 Mar 2017 5:23 a.m. PST

Yes, more of a cellar really. My wife suggested that I was welcome to make the dining room my game room, but with 5 doorways, 4 windows, and a large fireplace, it isn't well suited for storage, so I haven't opted for that yet.

advocate03 Mar 2017 5:35 a.m. PST

No. Johnny's in the basement, mixing up the medicine: I'm on the pavement…

DrSkull03 Mar 2017 5:57 a.m. PST

yes

No, I use a converted room on the main floor.

nnascati Supporting Member of TMP03 Mar 2017 6:14 a.m. PST

Yes, I recently re-located to the basement from our converted garage. The room was either too hot or too cold. Inow have the run of the basement, except for storage, which allows me the use of a 5 x 8 pool table to game on.

jefritrout03 Mar 2017 6:36 a.m. PST

Yep, 2/3 of the basement is mine. The rest belongs to TreeGirl. When I game with friends is it either at a shop or in their rather large basement (fits at least 4 separate games down there at the same time.

Personal logo Saber6 Supporting Member of TMP Fezian03 Mar 2017 6:51 a.m. PST

Yeah, but it the Family Room, not bare walls

Kevin C03 Mar 2017 7:09 a.m. PST

At home I game in a game room that is not a basement, but at the university where I work, the student clubs which I sponsor game in a rather large basement that accommodates over 100 students and two dozen gaming tables. There is a also a snack bar located in the basement as well. All of this is very convenient since I live in the heart of tornado alley. This helps keeps the students' minds off of the storms.

Yep – for sure

As noted by Jim, that's where the boss wants me to game!

Perris070703 Mar 2017 7:26 a.m. PST

"Man cave" = basement. Stays a comfortable 68 degrees year round, if a little dimly lit at times.

Who asked this joker03 Mar 2017 7:27 a.m. PST

Usually. Yes.

mad monkey 103 Mar 2017 7:41 a.m. PST

Nope.

Personal logo Parzival Supporting Member of TMP03 Mar 2017 7:48 a.m. PST

No basement, so I game on the kitchen table.

WarWizard03 Mar 2017 8:30 a.m. PST

Yes. Which I share with our dwarf rabbit.

Thomas O03 Mar 2017 8:37 a.m. PST

Yes, I have a fixed up room with a dedicated table. Used to use the dining room, but this is better I can leave a game set up for as long as I want.

Doug MSC Supporting Member of TMP03 Mar 2017 8:44 a.m. PST

No basement. Have permanent 5'x15' table set up in my Living/dinning room area, Library in one bedroom, office in another bedroom,carpeted/air-conditioned/heated 3 car garage used for storing figures, painting area, and Miniature Service Center business. Oh, by the way I'm single so I can do this. I really do have a master bedroom and guest bedroom also, as well as a family room, guest bathroom and my bathroom attached to the master bedroom. Yes all the things I could possibly want to keep me going.

TodCreasey03 Mar 2017 8:48 a.m. PST

Yes out club is in the basement of a Masonic temple. I used to in my basement at home but my wife trashed it 10 years ago and hasn't cleared up since.

Chuckaroobob03 Mar 2017 9:06 a.m. PST

Yes. Have a pool table and a ping pong table set up. Painting on a card table in the corner. Been thinking of combining the pool and ping pong with plywood somehow.

PrivateSnafu03 Mar 2017 12:11 p.m. PST

It's a garden level.

GarrisonMiniatures03 Mar 2017 1:46 p.m. PST

A basement would be nice. I've got a sheet metal shed.
