I'm doing a late 1950's what if scenario. Anyone know when the Russians started using the red oxide color on their warship decks? |

Can't say for sure, but certainly back to the 1970s, or so. Don't know if that'd be appropriate for the 1950s. I'd probably go with gray for back that far. Most pics from then are probably in black and white, so who is going to be able to refute your color choice? On a side note, I've had some fun with ex-WWII S-Boats being used against the Soviets during the 1950s, pitting them against a Riga, or Rigas. Danes got some surplus boats for their navy. You probably need at least four of them vs. a single Soviet vessel, to have a fighting chance, plus some luck too. |
