What gives with the "grainy-ness" though? Not a complaint, but just wondering.

One of the paint layers was too thick. Note the brush strokes in her left thigh. The lumps may be from bits of old cured paint mixing in when stirring up an old pot. Also, there's a nasty seam on the left shoulder. All of which seems weird considering the obvious skill on the face and the head scarf. Maybe the painter is overdue for their eyeglass prescription or some such.
