A study on the Hougoumont (area of the Waterloo) Battlefield.

I found it especially interesting as I walked that part of the battlefield only two years ago.

I would love to visit Waterloo. Guess I'll have to wait for a while, but I'd rather see Little Bighorn if I had to choose.

Not Gettysburg? Slightly visually spoiled by too many memorials but generally so well preserved….and you do have the Pickett's Buffet establishment to look forward to

Waterloo is still well worth a visit. Compact and an easy walk around it. The main road, the chaussee was there originally after all, if "less busy". LHS being closed off is very annoying. Hgmt did need rebuilding, I now do accept, and will weather in time to look better. LBA has survived. The new museum I watched being constructed and it seems well hidden, but I dread to think what the carpark did to the reverse slope. Smohain etc is still my favourite bit, as so untouched.

Nothing you can do about the mound. Nice choice of beer in the surprisingly better-than-it-looks pub at the base (had to be more welcoming than the Cambronne)

Walked it three times now…must go back
