Apologies seem odd it posted twice then when I tried to delete one it deleted all!
So I am trying to find info on when the French during the WSS started using the belly box? I have several books stating 1702-1704 but recently someone told me 1708. Anyone else have data and sources on this?
Thank you
David

Not near my library, but from everything I've read, that seems too late. I believe the changeover began in the 1690's. Old stocks would be used up,and it's at least conceivable that some were still around, but I'd think the change would be complete by then.
