I vaguely remember something about RAF Vulcan bombers flying from Ascension Island to the Falkland's to launch a bombing attack on Argentine Airfields. The Vulcans needed to be refueled en route, and special Victor bombers refitted as tankers refueled the Vulcans. At the time the Vulcan bombers held the record for the longest distance covered by a combat bombing mission. US B-52's from Barksdale AFB broke that record during Operation Desert Storm.
