I was watching the werewolf versus vampire movie, underworld. There were sort of equal numbers of male and female vampires, but all the werewolves were men. Then I happen to think that I have never seen any movie with female werewolf. Are there female werewolf in the mythology? |

The Ginger Snaps series is about two sisters affected by the curse, mainly as a horror metaphor for puberty. The film Dog Soldiers concerns a family/clan of werewolves in Scotland, with a female werewolf having a major role. Several female werewolves also appear in Niel Jordan's arthouse werewolf anthology film A Company of Wolves. |

Thirty year old spoiler alert, but American Werewolf in Paris features one prominently. The transformed weres are essentially sexless, though. |

Great, thanks. No I have some Netflixing to do. Is it fair to assume that it's impossible to distinguish a male and female werewolf after they've made the transition? "Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright." This needs an update to: "even a person who is …" |

Is it fair to assume that it's impossible to distinguish a male and female werewolf after they've made the transition? Well, you can tell male and female wolves apart if you know what to look for, so I can't see why it should be impossible, whether they turn into more-or-less normal wolves or into half-human half-wolf monstrosities. But in 28mm scale or smaller, there's surely no problem in using the same figures for both sexes if that's what you want. |
