1872 regulation uniforms, too, IIRC. I know that the original film with Audie Murphy had them.

I had to suffer watching this in school in 1974. As a tweenager, I had a hard time watching it back then. I do not wish to relive those painful memories. A horrid movie. Of course, all my teachers were peace-loving anti-war throw-tomatoes-at-veterans nutjobs back then. Hmmm…sounds a bit like 2017….

No, the 1951 version with Audie Murphy is pretty good.

The Audie Murphy version is the only one worth watching, IMO. Its a truncated version of the book, but I think it captures the essence of the book.
