Just want to put this out there for fans of Standard Games/Eurogames Cry Havoc series.

Not technically a boardgame with miniatures. Still with the beautiful artwork, and mechanisms of play, it might as well be.

I use miniatures in place of the counters all the time, and 20/25mm square foot, and 25x50mm bases work fine with the maps.

Blast from the past that one :-) Nice to hear it's still going strong.

I wonder if anyone has the 2D 1066 Normans,Saxons and Vikings stand-ups ?

Oooh. I remember seeing those in the shop. Good question.

Thanks for the link, as one of my all time favorites. I did it with 15mm figures, when the game first came out and I picked up all the two scenario books they produced and the 2nd one was the best. I have all the games and was lucky enough that the game store in our area had the extra maps you could purchase. I also picked up some of the 25mm figures they produced also and painted them up, but the shop had a hard time getting more of the figures though.

Cool, I had Cry Havoc, Siege, Outremer, and Samurai. Really liked the look.

Those are lovely games, but with serious flaws.

Archery is INCREDIBLY overpowered, and a good armored fighter behind a doorway is effectively impossible to defeat.

IIRC, after all these years, of course.

Chick,

The missile fire is the main reason I stopped playing in the way back.

If you are interested though, aave a look at the Magna Carta under the "Others" tab. The Eurogames versions had different rules which have been updated by site owner. Free to download.

Missile rules are different but I have not tried the version yet.

I have Viking Raiders on the shelf in the garage. Have never played it.

>I had Cry Havoc, Siege, Outremer, and Samurai.

Had (actually have) these, too.
Liked them and played them. Archery was indeed so overpowered that it killed the game when applied as designed.

Went to tabletop from there, but sometimes fond memorys make be take out the maps :-)

Just played 'Night of The Ninja' (Samurai Blades) last weekend with 28mm Figures.

One of my favorite series of games.

The current rules give a base 40% chance for a missile hit, then you how to the damage table to see if the target survives. If the target was not hit, an adjacent figure might be.

In Cry Havoc the archery is overpowered…..but Standard realised this very quickly and recommended you used the archery rules from the subsequent games in the series. I have Cry Havoc and Viking Raiders and a friend Siege.
