Hi, anyone got any information on Norwegian Grenadier headwear for Great Northern War? Assuming same as Danes mainly but would like some pointers if possible. |

The only source I know is the Hoglund book which didn't mention grenadiers at all. Also looking at Tacitus site: link there is no mention of grenadiers at all. Fabrizio |

Hi Roger, In the past I printed all the pages relative to Danish and Norwegian army in the Dan Schorr site and he state " Only one illustration of the grenadier cap is available, and that is A. Bloch's illustration of a cap from Akershusiske National Regiment ca 1702. it is a Kabuds with a roll of bearskin placed horizontally across the front of the cap. In contrast to the Kabuds of the musketeer, which has a crowned monogram C5, the front flap of the grenadier bears the Norwegian lion in brass or yellow gold cloth." He also state that "it's unknown if grenadiers in the other national regiment wore similar cap or if they wore any type of special headgear" |
