That was a pretty good quiz, thanks.

I got one wrong but I do not agree withe answer given. Namely, if Brock had survived, most historians agree that he would have gone on to take all of NY state.

Brock was under strict orders from Prevost not take the offensive as British/Canadian force was weak and widely spread out. Not a good question because it is subjective and a what if rather than a test of historical fact.

Also, question 23 and 24 are incorrect in as much as the British commander was LCol Morrison not Capt (N) Mulcaster. Mulcaster was in the area but commanding the gun boats on the St Lawrence river.

Notwithstanding the minor errors, a good quiz.

The test seems pretty biased. The burning of York was not planned (several US troops were killed in the initial explosion, including General Pike which made US command collapse).

Also the question of Brock invading New York is pretty hilarious- the British never had enough forces to mount an offensive until 1814.

Also, no mention of New Orleans, Plattsburg???

I enjoyed taking it. My area of interest though has always been more in favor of Waterloo than the War of 1812.

Greetin's all! Proud to sail In the Wake of the 1812ers!
Also got 24 of 25 untimed – I'm old you know – reflexes aren't what they used to be and my bifocals are hazed over! Also take umbridge with the Brock question – there was not a snowflake's chance that the British could muster enough strength to conquer, yet alone occupy, New York State. Just a "pie in the sky what if" from armchair generals. It was fun though – good to know I'm almost a know it all :-)
