Diary of a Subaltern in the Sudan is a photo story on the Campaigns of General Pettygree blog. Images as usual are accented with brief dialogue and narration here:

General Pettygree does not appear. Instead we meet the aforementioned unnamed subaltern and his friend Freddy Grandmaison on a scout along the newly built rail line between Wadi Halfi and Kosheh in northern Sudan. 54mm miniatures from Britains and John Jenkins Designs appear throughout. Views I trust will be eye-catching and the story engaging.

Bill P.

Beautiful to behold and inspiring to my own efforts, as always. I just happen to be re-reading Mr. Churchill's "The River War," so the timing couldn't be better. Looking forward to the next chapter!

I have the feeling this is going to be good. There's nothing quite like a game in 54mm, and with such beautiful figures and terrain, along with a knack for storytelling, this should be a rare treat. Looking forward to future updates!

Will you ever tell us the extent of your collection. It's off-narrative, but fascinating to hear how other gamers approach their projects! Keep up the great work.

Thank you Everyone,
I appreciate your kind remarks and interest. Feedback is important to bloggers.

The battle was fought on the 23rd instant. Der Alte Fritz (Jim P.) and I took many photos.

More soon.

Respectfully,
Bill P.
