Hello fellows, I wish to play a small skirmish game of ww2, some Russian infantry vs German infantry. I want to do 28mm figures of about 8-10 figures per side. Can someone point me to a rules set that will work for this.
Thanks

Yup, Nuts! is perfect for what you want, and a great game to boot!

Five core series from Weasel. link

I'll second 5Core. I've played more than 100 separate fights (all posted here on TMP) using Five Men in Normandy, Five Men at Kursk, and 5Core Company Command, and they remain my 'go-to' rules for WWII to Ultra-Modern.

Simple movement, fire and melee combat, and morale mechanisms, with the combat and morale combined into one die roll, and a very interesting activation mechanic that forces the player to prioritize what he wants to get accomplished.

V/R,
Jack

Skirmish Action. Includes extensive army lists to expand beyond infantry to include armor, artillery, aircraft, and so on. Uses d6s for simplicity and fast play. Optional rules add complexity. Full disclosure: OMM published them after years of playtesting.

Combat Patrol(tm): WWII. See: link I am the author so my opinion is biased. 😉

Battleground WWII, Nuts and Combat Patrol are all great games at your scale.

There are many great options, but 5core would be my first choice because they're simple/fast playing. It's also cheap on wargamevault.com . Nuts is a bit heavier and Combat patrol a bit heavier still, which maybe exactly what you're looking for.

5core is great at that level, so is Nuts.

Battleground WWII is a perfect game for small skirmishes. I've played 1 squad per side and it works great, but it is geared towards slightly larger games.

Another option if you want a slightly more cinematic feel is Savage Worlds or Savage Worlds Showdown.
