I haven't painted anything in a long, long while! So, when I felt inspired to paint a few days ago, I rode that wave until I finished one of my new terrain pieces, a Doom Serpent idol sculpted by Dave Cauley:
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!
I've got some painting commissions coming up soon, so it felt good to do this as a warm-up. -Alex in Alaska |

@Terrement – I was initially going to just paint the eyes like stone like the rest of the model, but even with the gold neck ornament, it looked a little plain. I thought that gemstone eyes might make for an extra incentive for adventurers to pillage the statue (as if adventurers ever needed incentives to pillage!), and eyes are natural focus points. I never really thought of trying anything other than green or red. The lizardman is one of mine, it's a Histath warrior (actually a serpent man, but, that's a fine line to parse). I'll eventually have an entire tribe of them made. |

Alxbates, do you know if John Dennet sculpted any more of those Histath miniatures? Idol looks really nice as does the serpent dude. :) |

@Der Krieg Geist – Sadly, John was unable to commit to sculpting any more of the Histath. That's a main reason for my delay in making any more of them… I want to find another sculptor who can match John's quality! |

Kind of a shame. I have loved John Dennets sculpts for decades and bought all of the Grenidier minis he did and still have a great many of them. I still have the Terronus Queen of Dragons, he gave me at a gaming con. I was asking him how I could replace or sculpt a missing piece because the one I bought at a store was missing the end of the tail section. I was a teenager then. Almost fifty now. I don't tend to forget good people. :) |

Fantastic!! I had a flashback to my child and the TV show "Land of the Lost" when I saw those alien guys! They look like the Sleestack! Is that what they were originally sculpted to be? |

Tried 3 different browsers. I still see nothing, except there was a brief flash of an image frame. |

Who makes those sleestack |
Alxbates | 05 Mar 2017 1:43 p.m. PST |
I make those Sleestacks – they're Forge of Ice miniatures, too. Sorry that the images aren't showing up – they're hosted through Imgur, it should be good. But, if you can't see them – I do have more photos up on the Forge of Ice FB page: facebook.com/forgeofice |

Oh, hey Alex! I still see no link, but I've seen the Sleestacks by now elsewhere and they're very cool! -JmC |

Always love to follow your work. I painted up some of your mutant terror birds for my vulture Dwarf army. |
