I admit to being a dumb American with little knowledge of Australian history beyond Ned Kelly and Eureka Stockade. I recently watched William Kelly's War and found the violent depiction of the family of cattle rustlers both chilling and surprising. It was something I would expect in a Hollywood Western, but it seemed very out of place in a tea drinking British Commonwealth country with uniformed constabulary. Were the sparely populated areas of Australia really this lawless, as late as the early 1900s?

In short, no. The long answer is far more complicated, hut basically ends with a "no" as well.

Had never heard of the film, but I looked it up. Sounds like complete nonsense.
