I am looking at the standard Jaeger, not heavy or heimatshutzen)and Gebirgsjager troops around the 1989 timeframe.

Does anyone know how many PzFaust44 were carried in a standard Jaeger platoon? I am seeing some sources say 1 per squad and others 3 per company or 1 per platoon.

Same type of problem with the Gebirgsjager battalions. I am seeing one source state 9 milans per battalion and another stating 21 milans per battalion. Anyone know the correct numbers?

I suspect both could be correct, for both issues.

I know for certain Milans were scarce, for even the Panzergrenadier IFVs, so each platoon only got one initially, and later, two. Presumably, eventually every vehicle/squad got them.

My guess is the same could apply to the PzFst 44s also.

I'd certainly think one per squad to be the most likely, given the superiority of numbers of Soviet and WARPAC armor the West Germans/NATO were up against.

Can't say definitively though.

Also, around 1989, units would have been at the height of their strength as well, just before the wall fell, and the Cold War ended.

Mark Bevis gives 1 to 3 M72 LAW or PF-44 per squad, one Carl Gustav per platoon and 2 Milan in the company HQ for a divisional Jaeger company. I believe the Charlie G is for illumination and smoke- not primarily an AT weapon.

I've seen them rarely, in photos, but the PzFst 44 guys did have a backpack, in which the gunner could carry at least three reloads too, just like the Soviet RPG guys.

Thanks all! It seems quite a few Pzf44s available.
