We played our first game (well 3 games actually) at the Tring Wargames Club last night.

I was really impressed with these rules, despite losing 2 of the games, they were great fun with a lot of potential.

There is a full AAR and initial thoughts on the rules on the blog tringwargames.blogspot.co.uk

Reads like a fun time. I like these rules too.

Thanks for the report, pretty exotic forces involved there. Our little group gave these rules a tryout with rather more mundane ECW companies last week. We all thoroughly enjoyed the game and intend to run another tomorrow. Our game was with 4 players and companies and took almost a whole 4 hour session to resolve, unlike the OPs experience. We had fun with the character traits for the officer and we each intend to keep "our" man for future skirmishes. Pike turned out to be a bit of a liability for me, perhaps because I forgot about getting them into close order before launching them in an assault against some shot. Trotters obviously have a lot of potential for being irritating against pike units which are unsupported by shot. The real heroes for me were my dragoons; next game I think they will be worthy of veteran status.
Definitely another great game from Dan Mersey.

"Definitely another great game from Dan Mersey"

True enough, but let's give Michael Leck some credit too.
