In the VII Corp 1812, do Saxon line infantry have elite companies or have they all been pulled off to make light and grenadier battalions?

Thanks!

Yes I have similar thoughts on the saxons my self, with current retro fit to 1:20 figure size units and currently working on the Saxons 1806/1809.
I do know the grenadier company of each battalion, like the prussians system, were pulled in to a 4 co ( 2 from each each of two regiments) battalion under the colonel's or habitor's name.
About the light trained troops/co/shutzen files of the line battalion is still a mystery.
By 1809 they did have separate clothed ( green jackets etc) and organized units of 2 jager and 2 light infantry that had no direct connection to the line regiments.
It will be interesting to see any replies from the experts on the German contingents!

I would suggest posting this question in Napoleonic Discussions.

I believe the grenadiers were stripped out to make separate battalions. I don't think they had light companies, just separate light battalions.

Mserafin is correct. No dedicated light companies in a battalion, and the two grenadier companies of each regiment were consolidated with two companies from another regiment to form separate grenadier battalions.

Thank you very much, would anyone have information as to the organization of the companies? Thinking Saxon's using a French Battalion organization versus an Austian or Prussian model.

I believe in the old Empire rules French maintained a two company frontage (240 men) and the Prussian/Austrians basically (180 man) frontage. I am not certain if if the Germans just had a one company frontage with a bigger company.

Sorry.. probably mis posted.. not so newbie ish.
