Can anyone recommend some decent books that also deal with the French contributions at The Somme? I'm looking for something that I can use for inspiration and seeds for gaming scenarios. Thanks!

What level of gaming scenarios are you thinking of? Skirmish? Platoon? Company? etc. The likes of Philpott is for high level actions – not lower than a corps but more like an army or army group.

Maneuver element would be company or battalion (using 10mm), so I'd have someplace between a brigade to a division each on the table at the maximum. Thanks!
